Can you give me information on fly light traps and placement in food facilities?

Whitmire Micro-Gen offers three basic types of insect light traps (ILT) - Vector Classic, Vector Super Nova and Vector Discreet. Each ILT can be used in a food facility such as food processing or food serving.

The keys to an effective fly control program in any facility are sanitation, insect location, and ILT placement.

Depending on the level of sanitation and the type of food facility, the Vector ILT can be placed from 3 to 8 feet off the ground. For example: If the facility has food sources and harborage areas located on or near the floor, the ILT should be placed close to the ground where the flies will tend to congregate.

The Vector Classic and Vector Super Nova will offer a higher catch in the higher population areas like kitchens or food processing areas. The Vector Discreet can be used in sensitive, low light areas.

All of these ILT work best when competing lights are off or low.

Specific placement of these ILT will depend on the layout of each structure.
