BALD-FACED HORNET
Biology
- Length: 5/8 to ¾ inches
- Black in color with accents of an ivory white color on the tip of the abdomen and on the face
- Fly very fast
- Active predators of other insects
- Very aggressive wasps
Distribution/Habits
- Build a strong, gray, round nest between the sizes of a softball and basketball using cellulose
- Nest contains many rows of combs where larvae develop.
- Nests are suspended from an stable object i.e. trees, overhangs or bushes.
