BOOKLICE (General)
Biology
- Length: 1/25 to 1/13 inch
- Almost colorless to gray to light brown
- Has small scale-like, non functional wings
- Booklice have chewing mouth parts.
Distribution/Habits
- Found throughout the world
- Most species are outdoor inhabitants found under bark, grass, damp wood, leaves, etc. They have been found in houses, warehouses, libraries, insect collections and in stored foods.
- Booklice prefer damp, warm, undisturbed places.
- Numbers escalate in structures during spring and summer.
- Feed primarily on mold which develops on glue of wallpaper, and book bindings
