CAMEL CRICKETS (Gryllacrididae)
Biology
- Adults are ½ to 1 ½ inches long.
- Humpbacked in appearance
- Thread-like antennae are much longer than the body.
- They are brown in color.
- They make no chirping sounds.
- Wingless or with vestigial wings
Distribution/Habits
- Found worldwide
- Indoors they are found in damp, moist areas such as basements, crawl spaces and garages.
- Outside they are found in mulch beds, railroad ties, wood piles, etc.
- Very good jumping ability
