- Length: Up to 45 inches
- Brownish-gray in color with a black neck and head
- Usually monogamous for life
Distribution/Habits
- Found throughout the United States and Canada
- Prefer to nest on dry ground but near water and feeding areas
- Eat roots, tubers, leaves of various food types, alfalfa, oats, rye, barley, wheat, sorghum and corn
- These geese have become a nuisance on golf courses, beaches, parks, and playing fields.
