Biology

  • Length: ¾ inch
  • Light yellowish to brown in color
  • Dark brown bands on the head
  • Antennae is long, thin and thread-like.
  • Rear legs are well developed.
  • Whimsical habit of chewing on clothing – especially soiled clothing
  • Female has a long slender ovipositor.

Distribution/Habits

  • The House Cricket is attracted to warmth.
  • Lives outdoors in debris during warmer months of the year
  • May migrate indoors when weather turns cools
  • They conceal themselves in cracks and crevices.
  • Generalist feeders; will consume liquids
  • Nocturnal
  • Will bite if handled
